Working principle
1. Feeding: The waste plastic or modified PE material is fed into the machine through a hopper. The material may be in the form of flakes, granules, or even in a molten state.
2. Melting and Mixing: In the case of a single screw pelletizing machine, the material is pushed forward by the rotating screw. As the material moves along the screw, it is subjected to heat and pressure, causing it to melt. The molten material is then mixed thoroughly to ensure uniformity.
In the case of a twin screw pelletizing machine, there are two screws that rotate in opposite directions. The material is fed into the gap between the screws, and as they rotate, the material is conveyed forward. The screws have intermeshing elements that create a shearing and kneading action, resulting in melting and mixing of the material.
3. Degassing: During the melting and mixing process, volatile gases and impurities may be released from the material. To remove these gases, a degassing zone is incorporated into the machine. This zone typically consists of a vacuum chamber where the gases are extracted, ensuring the final pellets are of high quality.
4. Filtration: To remove any remaining impurities or contaminants, a filtration system is employed. This system may consist of screens or mesh filters that trap unwanted particles, ensuring the final pellets are clean and free from any foreign matter.
5. Pelletizing: Once the material is melted, mixed, degassed, and filtered, it is ready for pelletizing. In a single screw pelletizing machine, the molten material is forced through a die plate with multiple small holes. As the material passes through the holes, it is cut into cylindrical pellets by a rotating blade.
In a twin screw pelletizing machine, the molten material is also forced through a die plate with multiple holes. However, the screws themselves have kneading and shearing elements that help in the formation and shaping of the pellets.
6. Cooling and Solidification: After the pellets are formed, they need to be cooled and solidified. This is typically achieved by passing the pellets through a water bath or a cooling system. The pellets are then dried to remove any residual moisture.
7. Collection and Packaging: Finally, the cooled and dried pellets are collected and packaged for further use or sale. They can be stored in bags or containers, ready to be transported to manufacturers who will use them as raw materials for various plastic products.
Overall, the working principle of a waste plastic or modified PE pelletizing machine using a single screw or twin screw involves melting, mixing, degassing, filtration, pelletizing, cooling, and packaging to produce high-quality plastic pellets.
